The packaging of the perfume is another hypnotic part of this fragrance. Let’s just say it is ‘housed’ in a bed chamber with beautifully decorated walls. Indeed, Shumukh is a true example of luxury perfumes. By the way, it’s a unisex perfume.

2. Golden Delicious for Her by DKNY

It’s golden, tantalising, and delicious at the same time. That is why it is called Golden Delicious. This perfume is one of the best luxury perfumes produced by Donna Karan New York (DKNY) perfume brand and gifted to women. The perfume was launched in 2010 and it has not ceased to amaze people and win them over.

The perfume’s flacon and top are spherical like a bowl, giving off the impression that a delicious meal was covered in the diamond-encrusted bowl and served to you.

But then, the flacon is made of delicate clear glass, not plastic. It has a gold-coloured ring placed around it and stones of different types and sizes used to beautify the ring.

Inside the bottle is the delicious meal in a golden liquid form, which makes the bottle sparkle like pure apple juice. Looking at and holding the bottle of this perfume will remind you of a juicy tantalizingly flavoured golden apple. But let’s see if it smells as it looks.

How Can You Identify A Luxury Perfume?

This is one of the challenges we had when we were trying to identify which perfume should be considered a luxury and which shouldn’t. There are so many exotic perfumes with exceptional fragrances out there. Many of them are even from good brands. But it’s not all of them that met the criteria we used to determine luxury perfumes.

We had to sieve through a long list of thousands of perfumes (including some from your favourite brands) before we could find ten that met most of the criteria on our scorecard. In case you want to know, the criteria we used to decide the perfumes that should belong to this special list are:

  • The price of the perfume
  • Its packaging
  • The flacon (that is, the bottle)
  • The scent
  • The brand that created and launched it
  • The perfume’s quality, and
  • The production rate.

Below, we will explain how these criteria were used and why we used them.

The Perfume Price as a Determiner

The price of any perfume can tell you its class. Let’s look at it this way. When you are about to book a flight and you need to receive maximum comfort during the journey, what do you do? Go for the first-class cabin, isn’t it? But how cheap is that first-class ticket you just paid for? Can you compare it to the economy class?

The same way your first-class cabin’s ticket is expensive is the way luxury perfumes are expensive. They are equivalent to the first-class cabin in an aeroplane. So, if a perfume is not very expensive, it can’t (in fact, it doesn’t) belong to the class of luxury perfumes. It’s just the way it is.

The Packaging as a Determiner

Luxury perfumes are usually packaged as if their bottles can break easily. Of course, when you consider the price of the content that bottle is holding, you may understand the need for the extra care taken to package it safely. Apart from being packaged as something very fragile, many luxury perfumes are also exotically packaged.

If you go to the section of a perfumery that sells luxury perfumes, you will notice their packs are well designed and, sort of, illuminated; they always stand out. This may, however, not be the case for all luxury perfumes, but this feature works for any perfume that has it. No brand will waste its resources designing an exotic packet for a perfume that isn’t luxurious.

The Perfume Falcon as the Determiner

The containers of luxury perfumes are, in most cases, exotically designed. Have you heard of perfume bottles that were studded with diamonds? What about those that have gold linings? Ok, let’s not get too far because it’s not all luxury perfumes that have stone studs or gold plates on their bottles.

But you need to know that many luxury perfumes (especially if they are for women) come in exotically designed bottles and tops. Always use this knowledge when looking for one.

The Scent as a Determiner

The scents of all the luxury perfumes are unique. They are like signatures. You can hardly get such scents from non-luxury perfumes. Even amongst them, their scents are so unique that you can identify which has which scent. The reason for this is simple – luxury perfumes are created with rare ingredients.

Most of them are made with natural materials that are hard to come by. Even those that have synthetic substances go for those rare ones so that you don’t get their fragrances from cheaper perfumes.

Of course, since scarce materials are always expensive, the materials used in making these perfumes are expensive too. This may help you understand one of the reasons these perfumes are expensive.

The Brand as a Determiner

The truth is, it’s not all the good perfume brands that create luxury perfumes. The brands that do make luxury perfumes niche on it. That means all (or most of) the perfumes they launch are luxury perfumes. For this, if you know the brands that niche on luxury perfumes, you will know where to buy yours when you need one.

Note that it is not always the case that only the companies that niche on luxury perfumes create one; others can too. But it doesn’t happen all the time. So I’ll still suggest you stick to the companies that produce luxury perfumes when you want to get yours.

The Perfume Quality as a Determiner

It’s not necessary to state that luxury perfumes have very good qualities but you need to know that. Like I stated earlier, some of them are made from natural materials, which may not harm you. That doesn’t mean all-natural materials are safe but you are surer of them than the synthetic ones.

Anyway, you won’t pay thousands of dollars (and sometimes millions of dollars) to take home a low-quality perfume, would you? One more thing, they usually have long-lasting (in not eternal) longevity and very strong projection.

ALSO READ: Best Perfumes Under $3000 for Women & Men

The Production Rate as a Determiner

Let me ask, how many seats do you find on the first-class cabin in the aeroplane? Why are they not as many as you see on the economy or premium economy class cabins? How come the seats are fewer than the ones you see on the business class cabin? The answer is simple – the place is reserved for very few passengers. This is also the same way luxury perfumes are produced for very few special users.

Apart from the materials used in producing them being expensive, the prices of the perfumes can cause buyers to think twice before buying them. Hence, their sales are not as huge as that of regular perfumes. Luxury perfumes are also the type you can wear to special occasions, so they are not what you buy regularly.

As a result, these perfumes are not produced in large numbers. Some brands don’t even sell theirs at regular perfume shops. You may be surprised some luxury perfumes are only produced when customers order them. So, if you see a mass-produced ‘luxury perfume’, run, it’s the imposter.

Conclusion

Now you will agree with us that there is something special about luxury perfumes. From their bottles to the contents within the bottles, these mentioned perfumes contain qualities that make them luxurious. You can see some are so expensive while others are not. But that doesn’t mean people don’t buy them.

Trust, those perfumes aren’t just pieces of art that stay on shelves for tourists and excursionists to view, do their oohs and aahs and then move to another shelf. This is to say that you should consider investing in one of these perfumes. Trust me, you’ll be happy you did.
